High-Speed Experimentation
"We recently had the opportunity to play with the Phantom HD for 2 days. It was awesome to get our hands on the camera and learn how to operate it. We’re currently on the Abel waiting list to become certified operators, so this opportunity allowed us to get a head start. The Phantom is basically a slick looking block of metal– a majority of the camera body is composed of a copper heat sink. All camera controls are handled via a Windows laptop. Not the best for hand-held or dolly shots (without planning ahead) since the camera is tethered down with several cables. We spent our weekend shooting all sorts of random stuff including pro rollerbladers (Connor O’Brien, David Sizemore, Montre Livingston), hip hop artist Asher Roth, and break-able items like beer bottles donated by the Atlanta Brewing Company and hot sauce from David Paul @ Hotlanta Hot Sauce.
